On tomorrow’s Truth Factor Discussion we will continue our study through 1 Corinthians, starting with chapter 9, verse 1. Throughout this epistle, the apostle Paul has dealt with several issues and challenges which plagued the Corinthian congregation. However, in chapter 9, the apostle spends some time defending both his apostleship as well as his right to be supported in his endeavors to preach the gospel.
Regarding this passage, there is a very important point to consider. While preachers have the scriptural right to be supported by the local congregation (and other congregations as well), a man should never preach the gospel simply to receive wages. A preacher should be willing to preach the word even if there is no financial support. With that said, the apostle Paul reminded the church in Corinth of their responsibility to support men who labor for the Lord, saying, “Even so the Lord has commanded that those who preach the gospel should live from the gospel” (1 Corinthians 9:14).
We hope you can join us tomorrow at 11:00 AM CT at: http://live.truthfactor.com as we factor the Truth of God’s word into our daily lives.
