Matthew 5:27-30
Dear Brethren,
Good Thursday Morning!
Obedience begins within the heart of a Christian and flows outward. This concept of sincere obedience is seen throughout the Bible. The apostle Paul commended the saints in Rome because they "obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine." (Romans 6:17)
Within all areas of our lives as Christian, it is crucial that we look deep within ourselves to gain the ultimate control over our actions. Consider the teachings of Jesus in Matthew 5:27-30. Jesus taught that if a man lusts after a woman in his heart, then he would be guilty of adultery. The Jews considered adultery to be the outward sexual activity. However, based upon the teachings of Jesus, we understand that sexual activity begins within the mind, within the heart. In order to control the outward sin of adultery, one must first control what is within his heart or mind. If sin wins the battle with our heart, then it is only a matter of time before sin wins the war with our outward actions.
Here is Matthew 5:27-30 presented for your consideration.
Matthew 5:27-30
27 “You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’
28 But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
29 If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell.
30 And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell.
In Love,
